Context

New Haven is known for its incredible food scene, especially its iconic pizza. As a resident, I noticed there wasn't a modern, user-friendly resource dedicated to helping people discover the best places to eat and visit in the city.

Best New Haven was created to fill this gap by providing a curated guide to the city's restaurants, attractions, and hidden gems with a focus on local favorites that might be overlooked by typical tourist resources.

Discovery

I began by researching existing resources and identifying gaps in the current offerings. I took my own personal experiences and created a list of features I wanted to include:

• Authentic local recommendations.
• Easy directory filtering by cuisine and vibe.
• Restuaraunt information including hours, location, and menu.
• Insider tips about menu items and ambiance
• User reviews and ratings system.

Features & Implementation

The site was built using Loveable.dev, which uses Vite, React, and Tailwind CSS. I connected to Supabase for the database and authentication.and included Google Auth for users to login. Key features include:

• Local restuarunt giveawyas.
• Advanced directory with search capabilities and filters for cuisine type and vibe.
• User sign in and favorite resturant and what to try next lists.
• User reviews and ratings system.
• Mobile-responsive design for on-the-go access
• Blog page with weeekly posts.
• Social media integration for restuarunt marketing.
• Full frontend Admin dashboard for managing content and users.

Best New Haven features a clean, intuitive interface that makes it easy to browse restaurants by category, or cuisine. Each listing includes essential information, user reviews, and insider tips that help visitors make informed decisions about where to eat and what to order.
